In addition, the HTR of 5-HTP is abolished by indolethylamine N-methyltransferase (INMT) inhibitors, which block conversion of serotonin and other endogenous tryptamines into N-methylated tryptamines, such as N-methylserotonin (NMS; norbufotenin), bufotenin (5-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine; 5-HO-DMT), and N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT). These N-methylated tryptamines are well-known for their psychedelic effects, whereas serotonin itself, without biotransformation, does not seem to produce psychedelic effects. 5-HTP has not been found to produce psychedelic effects in humans, which has been attributed to the high doses required to produce such effects. The 5-HTP doses that produce the HTR in rodents are orders of magnitude higher than the doses of 5-HTP that have been used safely and therapeutically in humans. It remains unknown whether 5-HTP can produce psychedelic effects in humans. The highest dosage of 5-HTP that is known to have been evaluated in humans is about 3,000 mg per day. Serotonin syndrome and associated hallucinations have been reported with overdose of serotonin-elevating drugs, but psychedelic-like effects have not been reported. The lack of the HTR and psychedelic effects with serotonin itself has been attributed to the fact that these effects appear to be dependent on activation of a population of intracellular 5-HT2A receptors expressed in cortical neurons in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) that lack the serotonin transporter (SERT) and are inaccessible to serotonin.
In December 1959, the South African government announced that it would forcibly relocate all residents of Old Location, a black neighbourhood located near Windhoek's city center, in accordance with apartheid legislation. In October 2025, Moore blamed Trump for the 2025 United States federal government shutdown while urging him to end the shutdown, saying that Maryland would likely face "serious damage" as the shutdown continued through infrastructure project delays, federal employees not receiving pay, and small businesses losing revenue. Moore initially declined to provide state funding to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) declined to use its contingency fund to continue funding SNAP, but later signed an order declaring a state of emergency and providing $10 million in funds to assist food banks across Maryland. After the Trump administration said it would only partially fund SNAP food benefits following a federal court ruling ordering it to pay SNAP benefits out of the USDA's contingency fund, Moore signed an executive order providing $62 million in state funds to provide SNAP participants with full benefits during the month of November. In November 2025, Moore criticized the bipartisan Senate agreement to end the shutdown, saying that it was "completely unacceptable" to pass a bill ending the shutdown without extending healthcare subsidies.

=== Further medieval development === The Fisher King's next development occurred around the end of the 12th century in Robert de Boron's Joseph d'Arimathie, the first work to connect the Grail with Jesus. Here, the "Rich Fisher" is called Bron, a name similar enough to Bran to suggest a relationship, and said to be the brother-in-law of Joseph of Arimathea, who had used the Grail to catch Christ's blood before laying him in the sepulchre. Joseph founds a religious community that travels eventually to Britain and entrusts the Grail to Bron (who is called the "Rich Fisher" because he catches a fish eaten at the Grail table). Bron founds the line of Grail keepers that eventually includes Perceval. The Lancelot-Grail (Vulgate) prose cycle includes a more elaborate history of the Fisher King. Many in his line are wounded for their failings, beginning with his ancestor Alain (the "Rich Fisherman"), and the only two that survived till the Grail Quest are the Maimed King, named Pellehan (Pellean, Pelleam, Pellehem), and the Fisher King, his son Pelles. The Vulgate Merlin Continuation further features besides his father, unnamed there, a brother of Pelles also named Alain, and in one variant also their brother and their cousin both named Pellinor, all featuring as Grail Kings of the Fisher and/or Maimed kind. Pelles engineers the birth of Galahad by tricking Lancelot into bed with his daughter Elaine, and it is prophesied that Galahad will achieve the Grail and heal the Wasteland and the Maimed King.
